Topic:  Reviewing Approaches to Blood Draws

Overview: Blood draws are one of the most ubiquitous medical procedures performed in hospitals every day. And while their results inform 70% of all clinical decisions, there has been little innovation to the procedure in decades. The trauma, risk and waste created by the nearly 450M blood draws that occur in the US every year, has been overlooked.

Learning Objectives:

a.  Review sub-optimal blood draw practices

b.  Review hurdles to Peripheral collections

c.  Research venous anatomy’s role in blood collection

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP12371 for 1 contact hour.
